The area illegally cultivated with coca crops in the Colombian department of Putumayo amounted to around 26.4 thousand hectares in 2018, down from nearly 30 thousand hectares a year earlier. Since 2013, the area cultivated with coca in the department had been consistently increasing. Putumayo accounted for 16 percent of the illegally cultivated coca area in Colombia in 2018.
