The number of people considered socially vulnerable for lagging behind in education in Mexico amounted to more than 21.1 million in 2018. This represents an improvement compared to the country's situation in 2008, when almost 24.5 million people lagged behind in education and were therefore considered vulnerable, approximately 22 percent of the Mexican population in that year.
