As of June 2019, the Indian air force had an authorized strength of around 143 thousand airmen who were below officers rank. However, there was a shortage of almost 14 thousand additional personnel as per government data.
Notably, the Indian armed forces was one of the largest military forces in the world, with China leading the way.
