The betting amount from parimutuels in Macao's horse racing sector was declining, reaching its lowest point at 193 million Macau patacas in 2022. The sector accounted for around three percent of the city's betting and lottery industry. The Macao Horse Racing Company, which has been reporting an annual deficit for over a decade, has the monopoly on horse racing betting in the city.
