In the Pacific region of Colombia, approximately 62.5 thousand hectares of land were used for illicit cultivation of coca in 2018. The Central region followed, with around 60.3 thousand cultivated hectares. That same year, the department of Nariño, in the Pacific Region, accounted for one quarter of the coca illegally cultivated area in the country.

Various sources refers to different sections of the Colombian government which contributed to the study, including the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of National Defense, the national police, the Colombian drugs observatory, amongst others.
