According to a survey conducted by Ipsos in June 2019, the majority of Saudi Arabian respondents agreed that social media bans are ineffective because there are many ways to bypass it, with around 35 percent strongly agreeing to the statement.
The background of the survey was a temporary social media ban by the government in Sri Lanka in April 2019 in the wake of a fatal terrorist attack.
