In 2022, there were 28,012 graduates graduating from programs funded by the University Grants Committee (UGC) in Hong Kong. The number of college graduates in Hong Kong's colleges experienced a drop from 2000 to 2012 and increased gradually since 2012. In 2005, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and City University of Hong Kong were the first universities from Hong Kong included in mainland's College Entrance Exam System. By 2019, a total of 19 colleges from Hong Kong were receiving applications from mainland China.
