According to the results of a survey by Ipsos, 66 percent of respondents agreed that the Indian military should intervene if another country is committing war crimes, even if it means infringing upon that country's sovereignty. Amongst all the countries surveyed in this study, Indian ranked first in terms of an agreement to allow the country's military intervene upon another sovereign nation in order to stop war crimes. On the contrary, Japanese respondents disagreed with military intervention the most.

The question asked in the survey was as follows:"To what extent, if at all, do you agree or disagree with the following statement? If a country commits war crimes, India should intervene to stop it, even if that infringes on its sovereignty?"
According to the source, respondents were more urban and educated, with higher incomes than their fellow citizens, referred to as "Upper Deck Consumer Citizens". They were not nationally representative of their country.
