Adults who trust the government to shut down social media in crises 2019, by country
In April 2019, the Sri Lankan government cut off social media access in the wake of a fatal terrorist attack. According to an Ipsos survey conducted a month later, 52 percent of respondents across 27 countries trusted their government to decide when and if it was appropriate to shut down social media during in times of crisis. Overall, 80 percent of respondents in India agreed with this statement but only 35 percent in Argentina felt the same.
