According to the survey among residents in Shanghai in November 2018, 56 percent of respondents stated that a greater encouragement of continuous education or lifelong learning was crucial to accelerate education development in Shanghai, China. In Shanghai, one example of the city’s efforts to build a smart city was to support greener buildings, such as 'zero-carbon emission' buildings.
