In 2022, there were 20,577 infant deaths in the United States. Around 13,158 of these deaths were neonatal deaths. Leading causes of infant mortality in the U.S. include congenital malformations, disorders related to short gestation and low birth weight, maternal complications, and sudden infant death syndrome.
