About 260 thousand people visited the Summer Comic Market (Comiket) in Japan in August 2024. The event, which focuses on self-published manga, took place at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition center. The Summer Comiket did not take place in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In order to prevent COVID-19 infections, the number of visitors was restricted in 2022, which led to a strong decrease in attendance compared to earlier years. Unlike the Summer Comiket, the Winter Comiket was held both in 2021 and 2022. The Summer Comiket events in 2023 and 2024 were held on two days, which was shorter than in 2019, resulting in a lower number of attendees.
