Cash and deposits were the largest liquid asset of corporations operating in the Japanese non-manufacturing industry in fiscal year 2017. Boosted especially by the service or wholesale and retail industries that are relying on immediate transaction via physical currencies or bank accounts, cash and deposits accounted for over 30 percent of the non-manufacturing industry's liquid assets.
