According to a survey conducted in Indonesia in April 2019, only 14 percent of respondents stated that they had a fixed internet subscription at home. Despite this, Indonesia is one of the biggest online markets worldwide. As of March 2017, online penetration in the country stood at only slightly over 50 percent. Popular online activities include mobile messaging and social media.
