In 2020, the prevalence of HIV among men who have sex with other men amounted to 18.3 percent in Brazil. That year, HIV prevalence among sex workers reached about 5.3 percent, while among people who injected drugs, HIV prevalence was nearly six percent in the country. There were around 930 thousand people diagnosed with HIV in Brazil that year.
