With 34 campgrounds having been granted the Eco-Camping-Seal by the Eco-Camping association for the sustainable management of campgrounds, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania has the most environmentally friendly campgrounds of all federal states in Germany.

Eco-Camping is an association dedicated to the protection of the environment and nature at campsites. Each year they award the Eco-Camping-Seal, which serves to confirm the sustainable management of campsites through a developed plan that is valid for three years and which should achieve goals aimed at improving environmental friendliness.
There are no Eco-Campsites in Bremen, Hamburg, Saxony or Saxony-Anhalt.
