Estimated forest area occupied by tigers in India 2018
As of 2018, the forests in central India had recorded the largest estimated forest area occupied by tigers with over 47 thousand square kilometers of land. The total tiger occupied forest area across the country was estimated to be almost 89 thousand square kilometers that same year. The country's tiger population is classified into five landscapes and according to the census, the forests in the central and eastern Ghats reported an increase of 50 percent in their tiger populations.
