In 2023, the mining unit Peñasquito, operated by Newmont, was the leading silver producer in Mexico, with an output of some 18 million ounces of silver. San Julián ranked second, with 13.35 million ounces produced. Fresnillo's Saucito followed, with a production of 12.96 million ounces. That year, silver was one of the leading mining products in Mexico, accounting for about 18 percent of the country's mine production value.
