In the Caribbean, approximately 7 million people were estimated to be undernourished in 2020. An undernourished individual is here defined as a person whose habitual food intake is insufficient to maintain an active and healthy life. That year, the number of undernourished people has decreased compared to 2005, when 7.6 million people suffered from undernourishment. Nevertheless, it is still a slight increase in comparison to the previous year. Furthermore, in Latin America, an increase of 35 percent in 2020 was recorded.
