Costa Rica: undernourishment prevalence 2004-2018
The share of population in Costa Rica whose habitual food intake is insufficient to maintain an active and healthy life was estimated at 4.8 percent between 2016 and 2018. The country's prevalence of undernourishment is relatively low compared to other Central American countries. The figures have also improved compared to the previous decade, when around 5.4 percent of the Costa Rican population was considered undernourished.
