Leading factors to decide on a cell phone Spain 2018

In the graph there is a list of factors that Spaniards have into consideration when choosing a cell phone in Spain according to a survey conducted in 2018. Good value for money ranked as the most valued element Spanish smartphone users had into account, with roughly 71.3 percent of the surveyed population stating they considered prices to be a relevant factor. Nearly 60 percent of respondents confirmed that battery life was also an important element that would impact their decision.

Android: Spain’s favorite operating system

Android was by far the most popular operating system in Spain over the last years. The lowest share of Android users ever registered during the period of time under consideration was in December 2014 at 83 percent. November 2016 ranked as the month that featured the highest share of iOS users at 13 percent. Cell phone penetration in Spain has only seen growth in recent years, with the number of phones per 100 inhabitants standing at 114.5 in 2018.

Most popular smartphone brands in Spain

There were more Samsung phones in Spain than any other smartphone brand in 2018. With a market share of over 30 percent, the South Korean manufacturer ranked as the most popular smartphone brand in the Mediterranean country. The Chinese technology brand Huawei took up 19.5 percent of the total market share that year, ranking this Asian smartphone manufacturer second on the list. The popularity of Huawei in Spain is reportedly much higher than in other countries according to the latest surveys.
