From 2017 to 2018, the overall number of professional clubs in the Italian Volleyball Federation's main leagues experienced a slight decrease. According to the data, this figure went down from 6,963 to 6,817 clubs over the period considered. The decreasing trend was experienced over all federation's leagues. Especially, the lower leagues (First, Second and Third Division) recorded the highest reduction in terms of clubs, passing from 4,849 clubs in 2017, to 4,716 teams in 2018.
