Frequency of drinking soft drinks in Singapore 2019
According to a survey conducted in Singapore in July 2019, around seven percent of the respondents stated that they drink soft drinks daily, while 32 percent of the respondents stated that they consumed soft drinks monthly. Soft drinks usually contain a sweetener, which may be sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, fruit juice, a sugar substitute or some combination of these. In December 2018, the Singaporean Ministry of Health began a consultation exercise to seek the public's feedback on measures to fight diabetes, which included a ban on high-sugar packet drinks and the implementation of a sugar tax in Singapore.
