According to a survey conducted in Singapore in July 2019, around 50 percent of the respondents who hold a university degree stated that they supported the implementation of a sugar tax. In December 2018, the Singaporean Ministry of Health began a consultation exercise to seek the public's feedback on measures to fight diabetes, which included a ban on high-sugar packet drinks and the implementation of a sugar tax in Singapore.
