Share of cash, debit cards and credit cards in POS in the Netherlands 2010-2020
What percent of transactions in the Netherlands are with credit cards? Dutch consumers used credit cards for roughly one percent of their transactions at bars, restaurants, shops, hotels and other points of sale in 2020. Contactless payments with a debit card, on the other hand, made up 63 percent of all transactions that year, whereas the share of cash payments had dropped to 32 percent. The Netherlands ranked as the European country where cash money was used the least.
