Annual credit card spending in the Netherlands 2012-2022, in local currency and USD
Credit card payments are very low in the Netherlands as its estimated transaction value barely changed as time went by. This is according to data from the domestic central bank, which did not provide detailed figures on the card-based payment method. The Netherlands stands out when it comes to credit cards, as it is one of the few countries in Europe which rarely reports about it. Major sources, such as the European Central Bank or the Bank for International Settlements, have next to no data about this. The Netherlands, instead, heavily focuses on debit cards.
