Tecno is the leading smartphone brand in Kenya in the first quarter of 2019 with market share of 20 percent. The brand is part of the Chinese mobile phone manufacturer Transsion, which is focused on sales to African markets. Taken together, Transsion Holdings accounts for more than 40 percent of the smartphone market In Kenya, with its brands Tecno, Itel and Infinix. For the full year of 2019 Transsion's share of the smartphone market in Kenya was 44 percent. Almost 70 percent of all smartphones sold in the country (1Q'19) have a selling price below 100 U.S. dollars.
