A total of 85.4 million citizens in Latin America suffered from severe food insecurity in 2022. If we include the population who face moderate food insecurity, the number rises up to 256.2 million.

According to FAO, "the prevalence of undernourishment (PoU) is an estimate of the proportion of the population whose habitual food consumption is insufficient to provide the dietary energy levels that are required to maintain a normal active and healthy life".
Estimates include Caribbean countries whose combined populations
represent around 65 percent of the population of the subregion. The countries included in the 2021 estimate for the Caribbean subregion are:
Antigua and Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago.
