Leading producers of peanuts worldwide 2022

As of 2022, China was the largest producer of peanuts worldwide, producing over 18.3 million metric tons of peanuts. India ranked second that year, producing just over ten million metric tons.

Pistachio producers

While the United States ranked fourth in terms of peanut production in 2022, the country was by far the top producer of pistachios in 2021/2022. That marketing year, the United States produced roughly 54 percent of the world’s pistachio seeds. Turkey stood in second place, accounting for a production share of about 27 percent.

Peanut butter

Commonly served on bread, peanut butter is a food paste, the main ingredient of which is dry-roasted peanuts. The spread is very popular in the United States: roughly 90 percent of the U.S. population consumed peanut butter in 2020. The country’s favorite type was creamy peanut butter, which had been eaten by over 200 million Americans that year. Other common variants include crunchy/chunky, reduced fat, and honey roasted peanut butter.
