In 2020, all major travel destinations in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo experienced strong declines in the number of hotel guest arrivals. In the case of the most tourist city in that region, Cancún, the decrease was above 50 percent. In total, a little over 11 million tourist arrivals were counted by hotels in that Mexican city.
