This statistic shows the distribution of domestic tourists in Italy in 2017, by the macro-area of origin and destination (North-West, North-East, Central, South and Islands). According to the study, the North-West was the macro-area recording the highest percentage of tourists who were also residents in that same area (59.5 percent of the overall presence of domestic tourists). Conversely, the Center recorded the lowest share of tourists from its own macro-area.
