The largest share of common wheat production in Mexico was destined for consumption in the internal market. In 2016, 97.95 percent of the quantity of common wheat produced in the country was used for human consumption, whereas seeds, animal feed and losses accounted for less than one percent each. Mexico's production of durum wheat, however, was mainly destined for exports.
