In 2018, the value of cocoa, chocolate and sugar confectionery exported from Italy to Western Europe made up 56.6 percent of total Italian exports of such products. According to data provided by Prometeia, the new countries of the EU were the second market for Italian exports of cocoa, chocolate and sugar confectionery, with a share of almost ten percent.
