This data illustrates the results of a survey in Germany on the most popular types of ice cream from 2017 to 2020. In 2020, around 28.3 percent of the German-speaking population aged 14 years and older ate "direct" ice cream (i.e. ice cream from a parlour) during summertime at least multiple times a month.

The survey is based on the German-speaking population aged 14 years and older with private or main residence in the Federal Republic of Germany.

Information on the sample:
2017: 23,106 respondents, projected base of 70.09 million people
2018: 23,086 respondents, projected base of 70.45 million people
2019: 23,120 respondents, projected base of 70.60 million people
2020: 23,138 respondents, projected base of 69.56 million people

This statistic is an analysis result which was calculated from the various characteristics of the survey. The question was not asked directly. In the survey, the participant had to state how often they consumed the various options on a list of different types of ice cream. This statistic depicts the share of respondents who answered "daily", "multiple times a week", "approximately once a week" or "multiple times a month" for the various types of ice cream.
