The Brazilian state of Minas Gerais was the leading iron ore mine producer in Brazil in 2022, with over 222 million metric tons produced. The state of Pará followed in second, with an output of nearly 172 million tons. Combined, these two states accounted for over 90 percent of the country's iron ore production that year.
