Press freedom index in Switzerland 2013-2024

Switzerland's press freedom index score in 2024 was 84.01, up by almost two points from the previous year. The index looks at the plurality and independence of the media and how safe and free it is for journalist to do their job, with higher scores suggesting a better situation for the press and lower scores representing a worse one. Although Switzerland's press freedom index score remains among the best in the world, media concentration, like in many markets, has seen the country's score waver in recent years, as well as harassment towards journalists and the growing risk of censorship or self-censorship.
