In 2023, Johor was the most visited state by domestic tourists in Malaysia, with around 8.92 million tourists. The next-most visited state was Pahang, with 8.54 million domestic tourists. The volume of domestic tourists has recovered since the government lifted the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
