In 2023, the consolidated revenue of the South Korean steel works company, POSCO, amounted to approximately 77.13 trillion South Korean won. This was a decrease in revenue compared to the previous year. POSCO is an abbreviation of Pohang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., and was originally established by the South Korean government, although it is no longer government owned.

POSCO is the premier steel company in South Korea, followed by Hyundai Steel and Dongkuk Steel. Hyundai Steel is a subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Group, which is the parent company of automobile OEMs Hyundai Motors and Kia Motors. Although Dongkuk Steel’s revenue does not quite compare to that of POSCO and Hyundai Steel, it is still the third-largest steel producer in South Korea and also a conglomerate company.
