A public joint stock company (PJSC) Rosneft was the leading oil producer in the Russia in 2022 with an output of nearly 179 million metric tons. The second-largest company in the industry was Lukoil, also a PJSC, whose oil production volume stood at 81 million metric tons. Surgutneftegas, an open joint-stock company (OJSC), ranked third with an output of approximately 60 million metric tons.
