GDP from construction Thailand 2009-2023
In 2023, the construction sector contributed over 440 billion Thai baht to Thailand's GDP. Such value also increased in recent years. In that same year, Thailand's service industries' total GDP amounted to around 10.93 trillion Thai baht.
Construction works in the public sector
The construction industry in Thailand is dominated by the public sector, in which the government directly invests in construction projects or jointly invests with private enterprises for the public benefit such as utility projects, schools, hospitals, and infrastructure for trains, bridges, and other buildings. In 2023, the investment value of the construction industry in the public sector of Thailand slightly decreased from the previous year.
Construction works in the private sector
As for construction in the private sector, it also contributes a great deal to the industry in Thailand. The country’s construction works in the private sector include residences, commercial buildings, and industrial factories. In 2023, there were around 2.1 thousand newly established factories in Thailand. However, unlike construction in the public sector, the market value of the private sector rose slightly in 2023 compared to the previous year.
