This statistic shows the share of people who can be classified as obese according to the body mass index (BMI) in Finland in 2018, by gender. According to the results of the survey, approximately 21 percent of all respondents measured a body mass index of 30 or above. The figure shows no large differences due to gender, as the share both men and women who can be classified as obese was roughly the same.

Weight was asked with the question: "How much do you weigh while wearing light clothing? Answer with the accuracy of one kilogram'. The body mass index (BMI) is derived from dividing the weight (in kilograms) by the square of body height (in meters), kg/m2. The body mass index is the most common measurement used to assess the degree of overweight. Body mass index >= 30 kg/m2 is tje internationally accepted threshold for obesity. Being observed are the respondents with a body mass index of a minimum of 30 kg/m2."
The source provides the following information: "Information is collected by a mail and online questionnaire.
The respondents are at least 20 years old and have permanent residency in Finland. There is no upper age limit.
The questionnaire is sent to people drawn by random sampling from the data of the Population Register Centre.
The questionnaire form is available in Finnish, Swedish, Russian and English.
The survey is carried out annually at the national level (sample size 10,000). This allows processing the findings only on the national level, not by any smaller regions.
Once every four years, the sample size is expanded to enable following the changes by counties at a rough level (sample size 3,300/county)."
