That Singaporeans love to shop is well-documented and reflected in the myriad of shopping malls dotting the city's landscape. However, the motivations for shopping are varied. According to the results of this survey, 79 percent of Singaporeans stated that they shopped when they needed a specific item. 45 percent of respondents, on the other hand, stated that they shopped because it made them feel happy.
