BEV registrations in Europe Q4 2018-Q2 2022

Registrations of new battery electric vehicles (BEVs) in European markets came to a little over 233,000 units in the second quarter of 2022. Sales had dipped in the second quarter of 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic but jumped back in the third quarter.

Unlike plug-in electric vehicles, hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) are characterized by an electric motor assisting the internal combustion engine. Fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) are also slowly being introduced into the market by leading carmakers such as Toyota.
