Share of Spaniards who have masturbated by gender 2023

According to the most recent surveys, in Spain, almost everybody masturbates. The results show that 97 percent of Spanish men and 91 percent of women masturbated in 2023. Among Spaniards aged between 27 and 41, 29 percent reported masturbating two to three times a week. Meanwhile, 21 percent of respondents aged between 18 and 26 stated they self-stimulated once per week. In terms of duration, approximately 41 percent of respondents of both genders reported that their sessions lasted between five and ten minutes.

The masturbatory routine of Spaniards

In 2023, men masturbated an average of 179.2 times per year, while women masturbated only slightly more than half as often as men. When it comes to the routine, in 2022, men in Spain were more prone to pleasuring themselves by using adult content than women, as stated by 81 percent of male respondents. Women, however, are more likely to fantasize or use their imagination while masturbating, although almost 51 percent of them also admitted to having used pornography to masturbate to some degree during the same period.

Sex toy trends in Spain

Sex toys are commonly used in Spain, with a share of 63 percent of the women and 45 percent of the men that stated that they had used self-pleasure devices in 2021. Among the respondents who reported use of sex toys, 46 percent of them cited the achievement of more intense orgasms as the main reason. Some 28 percent of them also reported doing it to break the routine.
