As of the first quarter of 2022, the vast majority of nuisance calls in China were spam calls. The security software provider 360 stated that around 89 percent of blocked calls had been classified as spam. Another seven percent of calls were advertisements. Compared to the previous year, the share of spam calls had increased significantly.
