Facebook regularly removes harmful content from its platform including child nudity and sexual exploitation-related items. During the second quarter of 2024, the social network removed 9.7 million pieces of child sexual exploitation content that violated their community standards, and 922,000 pieces of child nudity and physical abuse content.

According to Facebook, " We take action against a range of content that violates our standards, from nonsexual nude photos to exploitative material involving children. We remove violating content regardless of the context or the person's motivation for sharing it, to avoid the potential for abuse."
As of the second quarter of 2021, Facebook changed tracking on this content.
