According to a 2021 forecast, Germany could see its electrolyzer capacity increase to 107 gigawatts by 2040. This forecast is based on the assumption that a continued greater rollout of solar and wind power would facilitate more cost-efficient use of green hydrogen and thus encourage electrolyzer investments. When only taking into account current government targets, Germany's electrolyzer capacity is forecast to grow to five gigawatts by the end of the decade.
