This statistic depicts the results of a survey conducted in July 2018 in Japan asking individuals about their preferred working attire. During the surveyed period, almost 30 percent of respondents favored a restricted, yet basically free dress code for work, while just over five percent named suits as their preferred way of dressing for work.

*"Cool biz" refers to a campaign launched in 2005 by the Japanese Ministry of Environment as an effort to reduce electricity consumption during summer time in Japan. Part of the campaign was to introduce a liberal summer dress code in order to allow a reduction of air conditioner usage in offices across Japan.
