This statistic depicts the customer data stored by companies in Europe in 2018, by type of data. As the graph shows, personally identifiable data were the largest type of customers' data being held by companies, with 85 percent of firms affirming to store this information. Additionally, authentication credentials of clients or users were stored by 76 percent of companies, whereas payments details and credit card data were collected by 74 percent of respondents.

The source adds the following information: "Companies of different sizes – including very small businesses with 1-49 staff members, SMBs with 50-999 employees and major corporations/enterprises with over 1,000 employees. Fieldwork was completed
in March-April 2018."
