Skip work (call in sick/use a personal day last minute/use a vacation day)
The way the data was calculated for those who intend to skip work was as follows:
234.6 U.S. adults (according to 2010 U.S. census), multiplied by 61 percent of employed adults, multiplied by 34 percent who plan to watch the finale live, multiplied by 22 percent who plan to call in sick, use a personal day at the last minute on Monday or make other arrangements i.e. using a vacation day.
This group also includes those who normally work on Sunday nights but intend to make other arrangements (or call in sick). The number for this group stood at 5.8 million and was calculated as above aside from the final percentage which in this instance amounted to 12 percent.
For those intending to work remotely or show up late to work on Monday morning, the calculation was the same aside from the final percentages, which for these groups were seven percent and six percent respectively.
